What can I do to Help?

  • Join the facebook group "I'm ready to give Bradford some good news!"
  • Help fund the hub - which relies on donations to continue its work - by ringing HCJB Global's Media Centre, where the hub is based, on 01274 721810. Please say your donation is for the hub and they can take your payment by credit or debit card.
  • Check if your fellowship/organisation has a story by going through the questions below:

  1. Do you (or someone you know) have a great testimony worth sharing? There is a local radio station who loves to run personal stories about people’s encounters with God. Thousands will hear!
  2. Is your church doing something new, surprising or colourful in the community which might make a nice story or a bright picture? Ministering to skateboarders? Washing cars for nothing? Running the London Marathon for a local charity?
  3. Do any of the families in your congregation have a story to share? A come-back from disaster, a re-uniting after many years, a tragedy that has shaped the new way you operate? Prayers answered in dramatic fashion?  All these can be used to share your faith in a quiet but engaging way – and reach many more people than your minister does on a Sunday.
  4. High points in the year. The T&A and Yorkshire Post are always looking for a seasonal picture spread. Is your church doing something fun at Easter/Christmas/October 31st/Summer/Harvest/New Year etc.
  5. Do you have any interesting anniversaries coming up? New buildings opening?
  6. Do you know Christians involved in the wider world? Campaigning for justice? Demonstrating or speaking up for someone? Having a special prayer session for a certain world problem?
  7. If you hear a phone–in on the radio or see a letter on the letters page and think Bradford Christians should have a voice on that issue, ring in or ring Marianne and she will do her best to help. The letters page of any newspaper is the most well-read page.

Ring Marianne who can advise you further and make the most of the opportunity.

It can be a bit scary dealing with the media for the first time, especially when it is something personal to us, but unless we take up the challenge to share our Good News, it won’t be heard.
